William "Bill" Thode Founding Attorney

William “Bill” Thode is the founder of our firm. In 2015, the American Society of Legal Advocates selected him as one of the "Top Family Lawyers" in Colorado. The American Academy of Trial Attorneys also recognized him as a "2015 Premier 100 Trial Attorney". Most recently in 2016, Mr. Thode was selected as one of the "10 Best Family Law Attorneys" in Colorado for client satisfaction by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys.
Mr. Thode is a seasoned trial lawyer specializing in contested divorce and child custody cases. His specialties include international and domestic child relocation, child abduction and complex domestic property division cases. He has successfully represented hundreds of individual clients in federal and states courts through Colorado, and several other Western States. He has filed briefs in or argued personally before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the 9th, 10th and D.C. Circuit Courts. Additionally, he is licensed to appear before all Colorado state and federal courts.
Mr. Thode has practiced law since 1997, and is a member of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations. He is also a member of the CBA Family Law Section, among other professional affiliations.
Mr. Thode holds a Juris Doctorate degree from The George Washington University Law School in Washington D.C., where he received special distinction for his trial advocacy skills. He graduated cum laude, from the University of Colorado at Denver with a baccalaureate in Economics.
Currently, Mr. Thode is an active member of the Cherry Hills Community Church. He lives in Denver with his wife, Fabiola, and two of his four children. In his spare time, he likes to argue politics and religion, and write and perform music in various Denver venues.

Common Questions

How Long Will My Family Law Case Take? The length of a family law case depends on a number of factors and there may be no simple answer to this question. When all parties can reach agreements amicably, the process can be relatively quick. However, when agreements simply cannot be reach, litigation may be the only path forward, adding substantial time to the process.
Will My Case Need to Go to Court? However, issues such as child custody, alimony, and the division of assets must be resolved before a divorce can be finalized.
